GenY shares as much passion for music as for mean machines (read bikes). So, when Stunt Mania Rockathon happened at a city amusement park on Saturday evening, Kolkata had reasons galore to raise a toast. Youngsters turned up in huge numbers — some sporting interesting headgears, others displaying their tattoos. The day-long carnival saw performances by Rikterskale, Cassini’s Division, Lakkhichhara and Parikrama.
There were bike workshops as well, where bikers explained to the uninitiated how to go about doing stunts the right way, with all the safety gears in place. Nikhil Mohan from the Ghost Riderz team, explained that he had learnt about stunts by watching foreign videos. “Biking is still not a culture in India and so, it was tough convincing my parents. But now, after having worked in films like Robot with Rajinikanth and Khiladi with Mahesh Babu, there is a lot of expectations.” Subir Malik of Parikrama, who performed numbers like Am I dreaming, Tears of wizard and Open skies, said, “It’s great to be part of an event like this.
And what was more heartening was that the crowd wanted to hear our originals much more than covers.”
